April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4 in 1995) began her musical journey at the age of 7 when she took guitar and piano lessons. April Lockhart penned her first track, Different at the age twelve years old. As April approached 14 years old, she spent the majority of her time developing song ideas and perfecting the music. Then she began to take trips to write with father, who lived in NY as well as LA. April also added additional themes to the tune "Take My Hand" for a few of her the friends she had who struggled with problems like peer pressure, disabilities, and even teens who committed suicide. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing following as a lifestyle influencer as well as a spokesperson for the popular Clean Beauty company Ilia. Her birthplace didn't come with a left-hand, which is what makes her what she is. But that's far from the full story. Lockhart's profile on Twitter doesn't shy away from the fact that she is disabled however, it doesn't make a point of it. The message? That we all contain multitudes of identities and we're greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by her physical disability. She doesn't wish to be a disability advocate who only talks about that. There are many aspects to Lockhart. This doesn't interfere with my life. It's all normal, and I've learned to make adjustments. It's also a part of me, and I believe that it is something to be talked about. Lockhart has served as an excellent source of inspiration for her female friends with regards to acceptance of oneself. Lockhart admits to having gone through phases where she felt insecure about wearing certain clothing styles which exposed her arms. She is able to wear anything she likes, and proudly shares photos of her wearing these clothes. One of the keys to self-love for her is the fact that it's not a destination. However, I believe that's the case with everyone with whatever they are struggling with. People you associate yourself with that truly understand your personal story and who can look into your heart are the ones you should be relying on who can remind you of the things you're worrying about.
